Super Bowl Moment For Missions

This from Daniel & Karen Carlson, MAF Staff who live and work in Kinshasha, West Democratic Republic of Congo:

Sometimes an opportunity comes up that gives you the tingles or maybe holy giggles. How about a "Moment for Missions" during the Super Bowl? Dan got a call from a Covenant missionary up country in the area he grew up in. “Would MAF be able to fly a medical team from Kinshasa to Karawa on Saturday early enough to get video footage?” ABC decided they wanted to do a human interest story about Kathy and Calla Holmgren [wife and daughter of Seahawks Head Coach , Mike Holmgren] to air during the Super Bowl. The initial plans to fly commercially and then travel by truck would not allow ABC's camera man to get any filming done before Sunday.

The medical team and the camera man coming from South Africa all arrive on Friday. Dan will fly them all to Karawa on Saturday. Filming of the team working in the hospital will take place as soon as possible with some individual interviews taking place in Kinshasa Friday night. Sunday morning Dan and the camera man will fly back to Kinshasa where our MAF IT team will transmit the video clip to the States.

Prayer requests:
* Most of all that God will be glorified, not just a "human interest" story
about some nice, dedicated people.
* The eternal purpose of missions will be clearly communicated.
* Interest in medical missions in Congo.
* The Cessna Caravan will be ready to fly with no "surprises" during the
inspection that begins tomorrow, Wednesday.
* Good weather and flight to get to Karawa in enough time for shooting.
* Christian witness with the ABC film camera man.
* Positive exposure for MAF.
* Health and strength for Dan.

Here's a lot more on the story in a Sports Illustrated article, Fantastic Journeys.
