Reunion

I flew to Huntsville, Alabama on Thanksgiving Day. After an uneventful trip, I was met at the airport by Paul and Rhonda Gierow. I'm here to spend a few days working with Paul to put together a GATR system that will operate on C-band. We didn't waste any time, and when I arrived on Thursday, we went over to the office after dinner and worked for a couple hours.

Today was a good day, and we successfully completed testing the C-band electronics on a 2.4 meter dish. We'll pack everything up on Saturday, and are now waiting for permission from the Government of Bangladesh to be able to use the VSAT to assist the disaster response effort that is currently going on there.

In September, when I arrived back from the USNS Comfort mission, I had no idea when I'd use the GATR deployable VSAT system again. Certainly no idea it would be so soon. Today it was really helpful to refresh myself on the the operation of the system.
