A Trip to El Altar

I overslept my alarm, but was up at 6:15 AM to pack, eat breakfast, and take a few last photos. Breakfast was instant oatmeal and coffee. By 8:00 we were all

on horses or mules and on the muddy trail. Again I was on Turbo. I don't think anyone else really wanted to ride him. The ride down took longer than going up. It was even muddier, as it had rained during the night. At 10:40 AM we were back at the hostel. We ended up waiting quite a while for the last pack animal to arrive, so didn't drive away until almost noon.
On the way home we stopped in Baños at a Mexican restaurant. I had a great chimichanga. We arrived home at 5:30 PM, tired and satisfied with our effort. By the time I was home, it was time to eat again, but I didn't complain. Ellyn had a great meal ready, and I was hungry. At high altitude I really don't feel very hungry, and was ready to make up for it.
It was good to be in my own bed again, with my own pillow.
