I'm up in Quito

I'm up in Quito with Ron. We're here to pick up a work team from our Church. They'll be in ECU for a couple weeks.

It's been so long

It's been so long since I've written anything. Everyday I think about getting online and putting something in here, but it doesn't happen. I'd really like to share more often with you, so you'll get a glimpse into our life and work here. Just the first thing is, we're busy!

Dustin's leg is doing great. We're so blessed! There were a few moments when we panicked and thought maybe he's always walk with a limp. His knee is just about back to normal now, although I think there's just a slight bit of swelling. He's running, walking, and swimming, and doing everything in his power to avoid infections of any kind.

I've been working on an e-mail server for the Quito office. Since September I've been going to Quito a few days once a month. That's not a good way to get much done. Early in December we made a breakthrough with one of the problems which was keeping us from using the server. Then earlier this month I ran into another problem. I finally realized that I should just bring the server to Shell with me, and work on it here. I've had it set up in the house since Monday, and am simulating the situation that the server will be in when it's back up in Quito. Along with putting out other 'fires' along the way, I'm slowly making progress with the server. I'm heading up to Quito tomorrow and will take the server along. Ron Grant and I are driving up at 5 AM, so that will get us there by noon and I'll have the afternoon and evening to work on it.

A work team of five guys from our church will be arriving in Quito on Friday night. Ron and I will bring them back to Shell on Sunday. We're looking forward to seeing friends from home! I'm putting together a web page of their activities.

Where Does The Time Go?

Here we are in 2002. Where does the time go? We were in Quito for New Year's eve, and then on a vacation for a week. We arrvived back in Shell Sunday evening, and the boys were back in school yesterday. I have work to do in Quito, so I took the shuttle up here yesterday afternoon. Mike and I enjoyed a nice flight up here and before 5 PM I had spent almost three hours working on the e-mail server in the office. I made some progress finally, and it looks like this trip just might be the most productive yet. I plan to stay until I get the work done, or Friday, whichever comes first.
