Shopping

Rob and I went to a couple different places today to go shopping for things needed for the internet cafe in Banda Aceh. They had already bought all the things for the internet cafe in Meulaboh, but didn't buy anthing for Banda Aceh 'til they could go there and see what they needed. We went to a shopping center first, with this really big Target-like store, also with a large food section. We bought some office supply items to manage expenses and customers, and also some towels and sheets.

This afternoon we bought six plastic tables, ten chairs, and a filing cabinet and then took all that out to the airport, and stored it in tent there. The airport is filled with an amazing amount of planes, helicopters
and other equipment. The United Nations, military from all over the world, and relief organizations are everywhere. Finally we went to a huge mall--must have been five floors of stores. We went to the Ace hardware store and bought some electrical items and backup batteries. I also found a step-down transformer for about $2.80 which I was really excited about. The current here is 240 volts and my laptop power adapter can handle it. But the battery charger (for my camera batteries) is only rated at 110 volts. This transformer will let me charge my batteries, a good thing.
